摘要

This book is an excellent resource and guide to international large-scale assessments, or ILSAs. The three editors have done an excellent job identifying a group of prominent scholars whose expertise ranges from international testing and behavioral statistics to educational policy. The goals of the book are basically threefold: first, to explore why ILSAs are essential to educational research and policy; second, to explore how ILSA's are developed, scaled; and identify future directions; and third, to describe the most appropriate way to analyze and understand ILSA data using current innovative statistical methodology. The intended audience for this book is advanced practitioners of ILSAs as well as graduate students who want a deeper understanding of the issues underlying these assessments. This book could serve as a seminal source for any university faculty teaching in an educational or psychological measurement program.
