PRATER COMPLETES WESTFIELD'S EXTERNAL BUILDING ENVELOPE

Prater, the UKs largest envelope contractor, has bought green roofs to West London, with the completion of Europe's largest urban shopping centre, Westfield London. Spanning over 149,000 sq m the completed project includes five Alumasc Sedum System green roofs, designed to reduce storm-water run-off. Working with supply chain partners, Prater provided the complete design and build package which included the green roofs and structural wall panels. The base level of the green roofs was built onto the structural decking comprising of a Rockwool insulation board on top of a felt vapour control layer. A root deferent torchon system was then followed by a drainage mat with a geotextile membrane bonded to it to prevent any soil loss.
