Two graduates of St Andrews and Strathclyde Universities have launched a website that aims to establish an online consumer network across the UK to help people to find good tradesmen and avoid the rip-off merchants and shoddy workmen. Already 2,500 people have registered and hundreds of businesses have been reviewed and rated. www.getclued.com was set up by brothers Ross and Kevin Anderson after they were frustrated with not being able to find good, reliable trades people in their area of Glasgow. They decided that the best way of finding the right tradesmen would be to discover the opinions of past customers. It would be similar to getting a recommendation from a friend, but on a much larger scale.
