Recently, International Pig Topics attended Trouw's 2015 LifeStart Global Swine Symposium in the Netherlands. Their LifeStart concept is dedicated to reducing the gap between genetic potential and farm performance from 40 to 20% by offering the science, solutions and applications to unleash the piglet's full productive potential. This concept focuses on providing better health, management and nutrition in the first six weeks of life. By providing better quality feed in the first six weeks Trouw claimit is possible to save 10kg of finishing feed.Two of the presentations looked at pre-, peri- and immediate postnatal factors that influence subsequent performance.
