Chevron said that they have started producing oil this week from its Tahiti field, the deepest producing field in the Gulf of Mexico. Production is expected to ramp up to 125,000 b/d of crude oil and 70 MMcf/d before the end of the year. The total cost for the first phase of the project is $2.7 billion.
