Royal Dutch Shell has become the first major oil and gas player to show serious interest in Indonesia's fledgling coalbed methane (CBM) industry, with a Shell Indonesia official telling International Oil Daily that it intends to enter the business in partnership with state Pertamina.The Anglo-Dutch supermajor - which has been signaling plans to expand its Indonesian gas business for some time - will work with Pertamina developing CBM fields in South Sumatra, Adrian Richardson, business development manager at Shell Indonesia, said Wednesday on the sidelines of a Jakarta conference. Pertamina has seven CBM concessions in South Sumatra and three in East Kalimantan.
