Australia's Beach Petroleum has made a discovery with the Wakefield-1 well in the Cooper Basin in South Australia. The firm said Tuesday that the well in permit PEL 218 reached a total depth of 2,297 meters last week and encountered oil and gas shows at multiple levels. It has been cased and suspended pending further evaluation.
