The European Union (EU) said on Friday it would inject ?7.2 billion ($10.5 billion) over the next three years into a fund which will help developing nations combat the effects of climate change. The deal was announced by EU rotating presidency holder, Fredrik Reinfeldt, who is Sweden's prime minister, after a two-day summit in Brussels. The EU's offer is ?1.2 billion more than the expected ?6 billion figure mooted before the summit.
