CNOOC Starts Biodiesel Plant

China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has started up a 60,000 ton/yr biodiesel production plant on Hainan Island off southwestern China. The facility now runs on vegetable oil, but is expected to start using jatropha once the crop is available. CNOOC worked with state refiner Sinopec on the plant technology, according to local media reports.
