Gazprom Quits Uzbek Fields

Gazprom is pulling out of three fields in northern Uzbekistan, an Uzbek government official said Monday. Overseas subsidiary Zarubezhneftegas will return the exploration licenses to the Kuanysh, West-Urgin and Akchalak fields in Ustyurt to the government, he added. The official said Malaysia's state Petronas, which is already active in the Central Asian republic, may take over (IOD May15,p2).
