BG Drills More in Egypt

Italy's Saipem, 43% owned by Eni, has been awarded a $400 million offshore drilling contract by Egypt's Burullus Gas. The deal extends Burullus' charter of the Scarabeo-6 rig, capable of drilling to depths of 7,800 meters, to the fourth quarter of 2014. Upgrading work scheduled for 2011- 12 will increase the rig's operating capacity to 1,100 meters from 780 meters. The rig has been active in UK gas giant BG's prolific West Delta Deep Marine concession.
