Iraq's second postwar licensing round, held Friday and Saturday, was widely deemed a resounding success that promises close to 4.8 million barrels per day of new production and more than $100 billion a year of additional revenue. That comes on top of nearly 5 million b/d of new oil lined up during round one in June. If winning companies can deliver and politics or other problems don't derail their plans, Iraqi output capacity could vault to 12 million b/d within seven years, putting it in the same league as top exporter Saudi Arabia.
