CEOs Demand Anti-Graft Effort

The heads of some of the world's leading companies - including Anglo- Dutch supermajor Royal Dutch Shell and Malaysia's state Petronas - are urging governments to step up efforts to implement effectively a 2003 UN antigraft treaty. In a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, published by independent anticorruption group Transparency International, chief executives from 24 firms said the treaty was “essential” in the fight against corruption - and “crucial” in the current economic climate to prevent an erosion of ethical standards.
