We thank Dr Ding for his critical appraisal of our manuscript. We attempted to provide a comprehensive account of our early flow-diverting stent experience across a broader range of cerebral arterial sites and clinical settings than many other published series, focussing on complications and adverse outcomes. A neurosurgeon (AT), who had no direct involvement in the cases, independently reviewed patient records for all possible procedure-related issues. We saw a tendency for more adverse outcomes in anterior circulation aneurysms distal to the posterior communicating artery, posterior circulation aneurysms and large or giant aneurysms, reflecting findings widely reported elsewhere in the literature.
