Analysis of the present situation and the trends of development of work in the area of process petroleum oils for rubbers and rubber compounds

Recently, questions of the quality and composition of process petroleum oils have been the focus of attention of oil producers and users. This is connected with the more stringent requirements of EU legislation concerning the ecological characteristics of oils and the impending ban on oils that do not satisfy these requirements. Process petroleum oils lie third behind rubber and carbon black in terms of volume of consumption in tyre production, so that their role in determining the properties of rubber compounds and rubbers is great. The volume of their consumption amounts to 10-15% of the total consumption of rubber [1].
