A numerical scheme based on the method of numerical integration along bicharacteristics is developed for the numerical analysis of torsional wave propagation in layered orthotropic media. The dynamic behavior of a layered orthotropic bar of rectangular cross-section due to impact torque is studied. Moreover, the stability of the present method is investigated.
