Relationship between Gamma-GlutamylTransferase (GGT) Levels and Blood Pressure in Health Checkup Examinees

Background: This study aimed to examine the relationship between serum gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) levels and the increase of blood pressure in adults. Objective: This study reviewed health screening report and medical inquiry of 1,307 (732 men, 575 women) health checkup examinees (age range, 30-64 years) and who underwent health examination at a university hospital from January to December 2012. Results: GGT levels increased with age in both men and women, and were significantly increased as drinking levels increased. Moreover, GGT levels were strongly positively correlated to DBP in both men and women of 30s, 40s and 50s. Conclusion: This study findings imply that serum GGT is associated with blood pressure in health checkup examinees.
