CNOOC, Shell Mull LNG for Transportation

State China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) and Royal Dutch Shell are considering joining hands in China to distribute LNG for the transportation sector, which both companies see as having great business potential due to the growing role of natural gas as a lower-carbon fuel in the country. Shell has sounded out CNOOC to jointly develop an LNG retail business for vehicles and vessels in China, capitalizing on its experience in the US and Europe, industry officials said.
