摘要

Compressive strength is the most widely useddesign parameter in the construction industry and in rockengineering. Bieniawjki reported that mining engineers requestthe uniaxial compressive strength more often than any otherrock property. However standards set for specimen preparationare very demandine. Therefore it is very difficult and sometimesimpossible to fulfull these requirements usine weak rocks andespecially shales. This paper evaluates the use of the slakedurability and Shcre hardness tests to estimate UCS, based onlaboratory correlations performed for this study and others andbased on analysis of structural and physical material propertiesaffecting both strength and durability.
