In the November issue (Vol. 29:31) of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, there are two "Comments and Controversies" published by our colleagues Dr Denis Chi, et al and Dr Ignace Vergote, et al. The topic of debate is the role of primary cytoreductive surgery versus neoadjuvant chemotherapy in advanced ovarian cancer.This heated discussion has been addressed in our publications for over three decades and has surfaced again recently due to the publication of the only prospective randomized clinical trial challenging this topic which was published in the NEJM on September 2, 2010.
