摘要

The analytical prediction methods of both stress and temperature distributions through FEM simulation of cutting process are firstly referred and some difficulties included are discussed. Prediction methods of cutting tool wear and tool chipping occurrence are then surveyed. The proposed tool wear and breakage mechanisms and their availabilities are also discussed. The prediction method of residual stress distribution in machined surface layer is proposed through FEM. And the distortion of machined product caused by rearrangement of residual stress is discussed.
