Performance Evaluation of Single Parameter Pull Production Control Systems

摘要

The main purpose of this paper is to compare four pull control systems namely Kanban Control System (KCS), Constant Work in Process (CONWIP), Base Stock Control System (BSCS) and Echelon Kanban system (EKCS) using WITNESS simulation software's. Simulation studies were performed to evaluate the performance measures like production rate, average Work-In-Process (WIP) and % average machine utilization in addition to effect of number of kanbans in a typical single line with three manufacturing stage. It was observed that, the performance measures are affected all the pull systems by changing demand rate, machining times and buffer size (number of kanbans). In performance measured of production rate, the EKCS shows better than other pull control systems. In case of average WIP, KCS and EKCS shows better than CONWIP and BSCS. Where as, the % of average machine utilization remains same for all the four systems. Finally, the author suggested that, the existing pull production control systems might be selected based on user or organization need.
