Gout is a common metabolic disorder in poultry and is responsible for a great deal of morbidity and mortality in both broilers and layers. An appreciable incidence of gout has been reported by many workers (Shrivastava, 1982; Baba et al, 1987 ; Chowdary, 1988; Upendra, 1991; Rao et al, 1993; Uma et al, 1996; Gupta et al, 2002 and Srivastava etal, 2002) from different states in India, But, there is paucity of reported cases in West Bengal. Keeping this in view the present study was carried out to report the epizootiological status of gout in broiler birds in West Bengal.
