HISTOARCHITECTURE OF DIFFERENT GLANDULAR ORGANS IN RAT (RATTUS RATTUS)

The present work was carried out to record some morphological structures on different glandular organs like testis, ovary, spleen, thymus, kidney, liver, pancreas in rat. In testis, seminiferous tubule consists of a layer of fibrous tissue, a well defined basal lamina and a complex germinal eptithelium. In seminiferous epithelium, the lumen of the tubule comprises of basal lamina, spermatogonia, spermatocyte, spermatid and spermatozoa. The surface of the ovary is covered by cuboidal epithelium, primordial follicle, primary follicle, growing follicle, mature follicle and corpus luteum. Dense connective tissue surrounds spleen and produces trabeculae and divide the parenchyma or splenic pulp into incomplete compartments. The thymus has a connective tissue capsule that penetrates the parenchyma and divides the thymus into labules. Each lobule consists of peripheral dark zone known as cortex and central light zone known as medulla. The kidneys are enclosed in a thin fibrous connective tissue capsule without any septa inwards. Each nephron consists of a renal corpuscle, proximal convoluted tubule, Henle's loop and distal convoluted tubule, collecting tubules and ducts. Each renal corpuscles consists of a glomerulus and Bowman's capsule. Liver consistsof fine structures of hepatic cords. Pancreas is encapsulated, lobulated, compound tubuloacinar gland. The endocrine part is pancreatic islets and exocrine part is compound acinar gland.
