In the week that ex-PM Tony Blair released his memoir, A Journey, in which he admits that the amount he drank had become a 'prop', research has revealed that there is a divide between the North and South of England, more commonly known as the 'North-South divide'. This isn't exactly a revelation-details of differences in micro-economies, standards or living, health inequalities, and those ubiquitous accents that divide the North from the South have been common knowledge for at least half a century.
