Tissue viability and the Quality Accounts agenda.

The terms 'Quality Accounts' and 'QIPP' (quality, innovation, productivity and prevention) may not be familiar to all, but, over the course of the coming year, their impact will be felt by all who are engaged in the delivery of health care. All healthcare providers are increasingly required to demonstrate the effectiveness of their performance and to achieve centrally-developed targets. This is encapsulated into the public consultation on the proposed framework for Quality Accounts, launched by the Department of Health (DH, 2009a), which is now available for responses. All Trusts, acute and primary care, in England will need to prepare a response by 10 December 2009. This will ultimately result in legislation - hence the importance.
