While it is good to see that my paper on the evolution of the Tasmanides (Glen 2013) has spurred Fergusson (2014) into restating his views of supra-subduction zone activity in the Lachlan Orogen, I confess to being mystified as to why he bothered to formalise these opinions in a Discussion, which repeats his previous interpretations on the evolution of that orogen. Glen (2013) cited in several places that Fergusson was a proponent of the multiple, synchronous back-arc subduction zone models for which I suggested there were seven significant obstacles, the main one being the absence of linked arcs. All up, Glen (2013) cited 14 papers by Fergusson.
