New Power Transmission System for Shaft-Mounted Gear Units TorqLOC Saves Time and Money

The advantages are obvious: The gear units can be directly mounted onto the input shaft of the driven machine. Additional transmission elements such as couplings, chains or belts are not required. This saves time and money during assembly and achieves a particularly compact design for usually limited mounting space. TorqLOC revolutionizes the connection of hollow shaft to customer's shaft. The connection between gear unit hollow shaft and customer's shaft is made either interlocking via key or non-positive with shrink disc. However, these connection systems have disadvantages. Machining the customer's shaft and the assembly are very difficult due to the required fits between hollow shaft and customer's shaft. If contact corrosion occurs between hollow shaft and customer's shaft after extended operating time despite all preventive measures, removing the gear unit from the customer's shaft is very difficult and can often be accomplished only by sawing off the customer's shaft.
