摘要

The present research work concentrates on simultaneous optimization of multiple quality characteristics such as front width, back width, front height and back height of the weld bead geometry in Tungsten Inert Gas welding process of AA5083; H111 Aluminum alloy. A Face centered central composite design with 32 half fractional factorial points augmented with 12 star points and 9 center points was used for conducting the experiment. The Response surface methodology by adopting stepwise multiple regression analysis was applied for modeling each quality characteristics. The adequacy of models was checked by ANOVA technique. Further, the composite desirability approach proposed by Derringer and Suich was adapted for simultaneous optimization of all four quality characteristics to obtain the optimum process parameters. Finally, Confirmation experiment conducted to validate the optimized process parameters facilitates the proposed method to be adequate and can be applied to enhance the welding performance in TIG welding in an effective manner.
