The performance of dynamic resource allocation for multimedia quality of service (QoS) support in WCDMA cellular system is analyzed in this work. Connection level QoS parameters such as new call blocking probability(PB) and dropping probability(P_D) are considered as the performance measures. A service model consists of three service classes with different handoff-dropping requirements is considered. A measurement based call admission control and resource reservation schemes for the CDMA systems are developed to allocate resources adaptively to meet the target handoff dropping probability for the real time services with stringent delay bound. The non real time traffic serviced by the best effort model are supported. The system includes adaptive multimedia applications to further reduce the blocking and dropping probabilities of real time applications. Based on the multi dimensional model analysis, simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the system. The simulation results show that this admission control scheme can satisfy the desired QoS of multimedia applications under different traffic loads, while achieving high utilisation.
