CLINICAL EVALUATION OF TOPICURE ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF WOUNDS IN PIG

Wound healing begins immediately after the injury to the tissue. A sequence of cellular and molecular events occur which result in structural restoration. The healing of wound is often delayed due to infection and maggots. To accelerate the healing process the external application of a therapeutic agent, which has the property of anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimycotic, insecticidal, antiseptic and antimaggot, could be ideal for treatment of wound. The present study was undertaken to study theefficacy of Topicure spray on various wounds of pigs. A total of 20 minor wounds, 15 major wounds and 10 maggoted in crossbred and local pigs of Meghalaya were treated with Topicure to evaluate its efficacy. The incidence of wounds was divided in three types, i.e., minor wound, major wound depending upon the extent of injury and maggoted wound. After a routine cleaning with potassium permanganate solution, the Topicure was sprayed twice daily over the wound surface. An herbal spray for comprehensive tropical cure (Topicure, Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore-561229) containing Pinus longifolia-1.5 gm, Eucalyptus-1.25 gm and Cedrus deodara-} gm in 10 ml having all the mentioned properties was evaluated under farm condition in different types of wounds.
