The investigation was undertaken on some factors affecting body weight and growth rate at different ages in Jakhrana goats. Jakhrana is milch goat breed of semi-arid zone, confined to Jakhrana and neighbouring villages (Alwar districts, Arawali hii! range of Rajasthan, Rai, et al., 2001). Medium size, black colour coat, white spot on ears and well developed udder with conical teats are typical characteristics of Jakhrana goat. Animals of this breed are well adapted for stall-feeding as well as for grazing and browsing of locally available grasses and shrubs. Peak milk yield of 3-5 kg/day has been recorded in the farmers flock.
