Let's face it:The engine compartment is no place for mild-mannered materials.With temperatures that exceed 300F,exposure to oil,fuel,and coolants,and the occasional hard stop,materials requirements stretch to the high end.Engineering thermoplastics,sepcifically nylon,muscled their way under the hood with gusto more than a decade ago,the the trend continues today.
