The motion of electrons in a microtron with the second-type acceleration mode is calculated and an optimum location of the emitter in the cavity resonator is found, which permitted us to increase the current capture efficiency. The testing technique and test results for a 20-orbit microtron with such a cavity are described. For an electron output energy of 18 MeV, the current capture efficiency was ~9%.
