Metal-Containing Poly(p-xylylene) Films by CVD: Poly(p-xylylene) with Germanium Crystals

The preparation of polymer films containing metal or semiconductor crystals is of considerable interest for fundamental science and various practical uses.'1'2' These films are very promising as new, effective catalysts, magnetic and nonlinear optical films, and elements of integrated chemical systems for electrochemical processes. Recently it was shown that on the basis of such films, sensor devices for the detection of chemical compounds in the air can be prepared,'3'4' an application which has substantial significance for environmental studies and industrial use.
