On October 27,2001,the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress adopted the "Decision on the Revision of the Trade Mark Law of the People's Republic of China (1982)".This is the second revision of the law.One of the main changes to the law is the extended protection given to trade marks,previously defined as "words,device and combination of words and device",and now amended to "any visual sign capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one natural person,legal person or any other entities from those of others,including words,devices,letters,numerals,three-dimensional symbols,combinations of colors or any combination of the above elements thereof".The law therefore expressly protects three-dimensional devices as of December 1,2001.
