摘要

Countries participating in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations have scheduled a new batch of intersessional meetings in North America over the next two weeks that aim to make further progress on several issues that were discussed at the formal negotiating round held last month in Brunei, including environment and rules of origin. The move comes as officials are trying to make as much progress as possible ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' summit Oct. 7-8 in Bali, Indonesia, during which President Obama will host a meeting of TPP leaders to assess the status of the negotiations. Some observers say the TPP leaders may seek to announce an agreement in principle, or at least announce that a certain portion of the deal has been completed.
