U.S., EU Agree In Principle To Seek Long-Term Regulatory Mechanism

A top U.S. trade official last week said the U.S. and EU have agreed to establish through their bilateral trade and investment deal some sort of panel that will work on breaking down new regulatory barriers between the two economies after the trade negotiations are wrapped up. Dan Mullaney, assistant U.S. trade representative for Europe and the Middle East, said in a press conference broadcast from Brussels at the conclusion of the second negotiating round that the details must still be worked out and will depend on the regulatory outcome of the negotiations for a Transatlantic Trade and Investment (TTIP).
