De Gucht Says Early TPP Deal Will Help TTIP, Stresses Ultimate Need For TPA

European Union Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht this week implied that the U.S. focus on Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations is distracting attention from the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) when he said a quick deal on TPP would help TTIP. De Gucht said he hopes the U.S. will conclude a good TPP deal "as soon as possible," in remarks made after a Feb. 18 formal speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington. "Because the sooner you can do it, I think the sooner we can get to the end game of TTIP also," he said.
