EU Trade Chief To Meet With Froman Next Week On Working Group Report

European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht will meet in Washington next week with a senior White House official to discuss an upcoming report on the status of the deliberations in the High-Level Working Group, which is looking for ways to deepen the trans-Atlantic trade and investment relationship in a way that promotes growth and jobs. De Gucht, who will arrive in Washington on June 4 and leave the same day, will meet with Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economic Affairs Michael Froman. DeGucht will not meet with U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, who is De Gucht's counterpart as chair of the working group, according to EU Trade Spokesman John Clancy. Kirk is set to attend the June 4-5 APEC trade ministers meeting in Kazan, Russia.
