This paper presents an LDA flow rate meter which has been developed based on the laser Doppler anemometer (LDA) technique. The LDA flow rate meter is non-intrusive measurement instrument, and it has high temporal resolution. This LDA flow rate meter was applied to the measurement of the unsteady fuel injection system and the oscillating flow. As for the measurement of the oscillating flow, the mode of the heart pump movement has been clarified with the aide of the LDA flow rate meter. The authors have also developed a portable LDA flow rate meter, which is of one tenth size as compared with the original one.
