Eleven freshman House Democrats have declared their opposition to Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and ex-pressed strong reservations about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in a series of letters sent to President Obama, who this week called on both parties to pass legislation renewing TPA in his State of the Union address. Nine of the Democratic freshmen did so in a Jan. 21 letter, the day after the president's speech before Congress. Some of those signatories - including Reps. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Brendan Boyle (D-PA), Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Brenda Lawrence (D-MI) - have previously indicated their opposition to TPA by appearing at press conferences this week with Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), one of the key opponents to the legislation in the House.
