Population by the Numbers: Identity Numbers, National Registers, and Census in Norway

摘要

The article examines main features and legal regulation of the Norwegian national identity number. Main provisions regarding collection of and access to information from the national population register and the 2001 census is explained and discussed, for instance in relation to citizens' trust in processing of personal data by government agencies.
