The Shanghai Municipal Government has adopted a sustainable development approach to meet its long-term development goals. Cleaner production is considered an essential part of the technological modernization of the Shanghai area. The Municipal Bureau of Environmental Protection and the Shanghai Economic Commission are currently preparing a "Framework Plan for Promo ting Cleaner Production in Shanghai".
