摘要

Scaled submersible marine test vehicle models are used in a range of studies for hydrodynamic design evaluation of military submarines. They are an intrinsic part of research and development activities for submarine concept and manoeuvrability studies, propulsion system and structural design, and noise and vibration studies. The marine environment is always challenging, and the design of the test vehicles presented their own unique design challenges. In particular, when looking at the requirements for the rotary actuators to power the rudder and hydroplane controls of the scaled submersible vehicle test models, enquiries soon revealed that no single commercially available products could be used in this application.
