THE MONITORING OF PARAMETERS AND MACHINE NETWORKING WILL SOON BE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE ROAD-BUILDING PROCESS. YET THE MODULAR TECHNOLOGY EMPLOYED IS HIGHLY TRANSFERABLE. What would be the ideal features of the construction sites of the future? Integrated machines which automatically exchange data with each other in real time to ensure exact synchronisation? Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals for highly accurate positioning? Monitoring the construction site via real-time display of all working steps on the office computer? How about asphalt pavers automatically messaging when new material will be needed, to ensure ideal co-ordination of the material supply with trucks? Or perhaps scanning the material, and measuring and controlling the asphalt's temperature and quality before paving? All of the above coming together to result in long-lasting, robust asphalt, exact paving and optimised compaction, resulting in perfect streets?
