摘要

Selenium (Se) is an essential element for human health since it is a constitutive part of selenocysteine and participates in antioxidant defense and redox state regulation. However, in many parts of the world, Se concentration in soil and thus plantsis low. Agronomic biofortification with Se is a common practice; however, little information is available about the uptake of Se in durum wheat. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the ability of four contrasting durum wheat varieties in takingup Se and transfer it to the grain.
