Studies on genetic components of variation in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)

The knowledge of genetic parameters of different economic characters is essential for deciding different breeding methodologies for improvement of respective characters. Genetic components of various studies give the details about the involvement of type of gene action of individual characters and also the number of gene blocks responsible for each character. In cucumber, such studies are very meagre. The present investigation, therefore was undertaken to establish the type of gene action for economically important characters so that inferences could be drawn and utilized in specific breeding programmes for obtaining the desired results.
