Effect of growth regulators on growth and flowering of dahlia (Dahlia variabilis L.)

Dahlia is important flowering plant as it has wide range of form, size and colour. Dahlias are cultivated for dramatic garden display, home decoration, cut flowers, bedding, flower arrangement and other useful purposes. Several plant growth regulators have been widely used in large number of ornamental crops and their efficacy have been demonstrated for nursery production (Grzesik and Rudnicki, 4), growth of woody plants, ornamental foliage plants and on several other flower crops. The use of gibberellic acid and chlormequat have been remarkably successful with several ornamental crops. Keeping all the above facts in view, the present investigation was carried out to note the effect of growth regulators on growth and flowering of dahlia.
