摘要

This study presents the results of microscopic study of pyrite in the high sulphur coals of Jammu. A quantitative examination of morphological forms of pyrite has been carried out along with their approximate size measurement. The study shows that framboidal pyrite (of 5 to 60 mm) ranges in concentration from 5 to 49 percent, cavity fillings (12 to 300 mm) from 6 to 60 percent, fissure and cleat fillings front 0 to 4 percent, disseminated pyrite from 10 to 25 percent, discrete grains (4 to 18 mm) from 11 to 50 percent and massive replacement from 0 to 20 percent. An effort has also been made to demonstrate the basinal distribution of pyrite forms with respect to size.
